Wildly Different August Newsletter No images? Click here August 2020 IssueBack to School MonthAugust is Back to School month! Usually, this is a time when students are prepping for a new school year, picking out their first day of school outfits, and stocking up on school supplies. With all the challenges 2020 has brought, this year's Back to School preparations are unique for every family. Here are some wildly different ways you can keep your students or even your corporate groups motivated while preparing to send students Back to School this August! Back to School DriveIn 2019, 1 out of every 5 students in the US could not afford basic school supplies. In 2020, that number will be much worse. To help those students and families, organize a virtual Back to School drive. Start by reaching out to your local school district to find out what their biggest needs are right now. Invite your colleagues or friends to gather items from your school district's "Wish List." Then, have your group gather on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar for an hour of fun! As the host, create trivia questions that your participants must guess the answer to. For example, how long is a standard #2 pencil? (It's 7.5 inches.) Or, in what year did the first modern backpack come to be? (Not until 1967!) Have your participants add the number of trivia questions they got correct to the number of items they collected from the school's wish list to get their total score! Remember to organize a pick-up or drop off before school is back in session so your district has ample time to distribute supplies to students in need! Custom Virtual Escape RoomOur virtual escape rooms have become so popular, several groups have asked if we can create a custom escape activity for their remote teams… obviously our answer is yes! So, what does that look like? Take for instance students and educators (and families of students and educators) who may not be "on campus" this fall. We can help recreate the excitement and experience of going back to school with a custom virtual escape room. Rather than escaping from the classroom, students or players must solve a series of clues in order to break into the classroom! We will design a custom virtual escape game including solving clues and tackling puzzles that highlight your school's mission while allowing students to interact with one another from the comfort and safety of their own home. Will your group make it to class on time? |
